SB 2654 would ban direct-to-consumer online (or remote) sales of all vapor and tobacco products. The new law would do this by requiring that remote sales only be conducted between licensed tobacco retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers. Additionally, by bringing vapor companies into the existing tobacco licensing regulations, Hawaii would be enacting a new tax on vapor products (the rate has yet to be determined).
Please take action today by sending a message to committee members in both the House and Senate urging them to reject SB 2654.
With an effective date set in the year 3000 and disagreement over the tax rate, the future of this legislation is uncertain. Contacting your lawmakers is important because they need to hear that voters also disagree with this proposal.
